We meet every Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Our meetings each week feature a speaker from local and international organizations, who brings us a message on current and relevent subjects in the field of health, education, culture and vocation.

Many of our speakers are Rotarians involved in Rotary programs such as Group Study Exchange, Youth Exchange, Ambassadorial Scholars, and in specific current local and international service projects such as End Polio Now and our local Dictionary Project.

Our speakers help us provide an interesting meeting and keep our members informed about local and international needs and the efforts of Rotary around the world.

February 8, 2012

Once a month our meeting is designated as a Business meeting where the members of the board report on their activities during the month. Recommendations for expenditures over $500. are voted on by the members present. Club financial reports are presented at each business meeting. Guests are
always welcome.

Last Week's Meeting February 1, 2012

A group of 17 met at the Huron House. Included were guests Bill and June Harkness. June is a member of the Rotary Club of London West.
In President Vic’s absence past President Don Langford took over the gavel for the evening.
Don advised that about 20% of our membership was in attendance for the “Day of Giving”...a pretty good showing from London North!
Planning on attending the Valentine’s dinner on the 14th? If so be sure to rsvp to the email sent out by Vic several days ago.

Members are asked to go to our website to check for hole sponsors for the Golf Tourney. Doug B. has asked members to take off any that you know will not be sponsors or add any potential ones for follow up.

Pat introduced our guest speaker June Harkness. June is a new member of the London West Rotary Club but she is not new to Rotary. She joined us for the evening to tell us about her experiences as a Rotarian in St. Lucia where she and her husband, Bill lived while she was doing some work with their educational system. There she became involved in Rotary in joining one of the three clubs on the island. June became involved in many projects and lots of progress was made on several fronts. As Rotarians we know the impact our work can have but June experienced this first hand when Hurricane Tomas hit the island in 2010. She and the other club members were there to witness all the devastation that Mother Nature inflicted upon them. The infrastructure of the island was decimated. As soon as the winds subsided the wheels of motion started. June and Bill were there to assist with the receipt and delivery of drinking water to affected areas, to assist with the arrival and set up of Shelter Boxes that were flown in from the UK ...just to name a few of their involvements. June’s presentation was captivating. She conveyed to us that it is this hands on experiences that has made her so passionate about the work that Rotary does. Questions followed and then Pat presented June with a Polio Plus donation recognition certificate.

The hat was passed around to collect a few $$ for the coffers. Margaret won the draw and graciously gave it to guest June.
